ABOUT THIS EPISODE
With a rich family background of survivors and passionate Jews, the backdrop for Shlomo Ra'anan's revolution in Israeli society was set decades ago. Drawing on this heritage, Ra'anan has made it his life mission to supply every Israeli kibbutz, moshav or town with Jewish resources and infrastructure. Placing rabbinic families in communities, building synagogues, and establishing partner-study programs for over 10,000 people, he has bridged gaps and brought Jewish connection in ways few others have matched. Ayelet Hashchar functions now in 167 locations around Israel, with more on the horizon.
Riki Siton is a Bnai Brak-based mother of eight who somehow also runs the women's division and the Chavruta (study partner) program. She herself has befriended a famous Yediot Acharonot columnist, and their ongoing - albeit unlikely - relationship itself has made news, and forms a template for the mission of Jewish unity the organization represents.
