Jews You Should Know

Sep 18, 2017

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Jamie Geller grew up in a traditional Jewish home, but struggled to find her Jewish identity as she attended journalism school at NYU and made her way as a producer for CNN and HBO, working on such estimable shows as The Sopranos.

Jamie eventually blossomed as a Jewish woman and correspondingly shifted her creative talents towards the kosher cookbook industry. A self-professed culinary luddite as a newlywed, Jamie eventually distinguished herself by popularizing recipes that were tasty and presentable but also accessible to the average working person.

Along the way, Jamie also became a spokeswoman of sorts for aliyah (moving) to Israel, as she chronicled her own family's journey in real-time on YouTube and via her blog. Her content suite now includes a series of best-selling books, a website hosting thousands of recipes and stories and a vast variety of food- and Jewish-related content.
