Jews You Should Know

Apr 23, 2018

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

As one of the most decorated generals in the Israel Defense Forces, Maj. General Meir Klifi-Amir has served his country and his people for almost four decades, rising steadily in rank from his youthful beginnings in the Paratroopers. Perhaps the only Israeli general also married to a general, General Klifi, as he is affectionately known, is as invested as one can possibly be in the fundamental values of service and protection.

After several terms as national security advisor to consecutive prime ministers - Olmert and Netanyahu, General Klifi finally entered the private sector, only to once be pressed in to service: this time, to head the FIDF. Founded in 1981, this organization currently raised nearly $130 million to support Israeli soldiers through a variety of programs ranging from educational support to building facilities on bases to assisting lone soldiers. General Klifi, currently based in New York, oversees this massive operation - his wife by his side as a volunteer leading a newly formed Women's Division.

In this week's episode, learn about his upbringing, his service, his current role, and his dreams for the Jewish People.
